Following on the heels of COVID-19, global rules on pandemic preparedness and response are being overhauled.<\/p>\n
Negotiations on a Global Pandemic Accord will\u00a0kick off in February 2023<\/a><\/strong>, and the International Health Regulations (IHR) on responding to global public health emergencies\u00a0are being revised<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n Against that background, the\u00a0International Federation of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers & Associations<\/strong> (IFPMA) requested that Covington carry out an independent research project with the following scope: to map out the current practices, rules, and actors in global disease surveillance and pathogen sharing, for both physical samples and sequence data.<\/p>\n The research was carried out between April and November 2022, collecting input from global health experts.<\/p>\n The findings are presented in a series of four reports, publicly available on the Covington<\/a> website.
